Babylon Media was founded in the Netherlands in 1998 by two Iraqi brothers with deep experience in television, visual arts, and media production. From its early years, the company became actively involved with major Dutch satellite channels and quickly expanded its activities internationally.
As Babylon Media's reputation grew, so did its connections with Iraqi broadcasters. Following the significant development in Iraq—especially within the Kurdistan Region—the company made the strategic decision to transfer its operations and expertise to the region. This move allowed Babylon Media to contribute directly to the area's rapidly advancing communications and media landscape, offering world-class experience and supporting a future full of opportunity and growth.
The visionaries behind Babylon Media's success
Founder & CEO
Salwan Zaito was born in Zakho during the 1970s, and grew up in different cities throughout Iraq's difficult times. Along with his brothers, Zaito always had interest in media and the new electronic technology, as the trio opened various businesses from music shops to video services. He received his bachelor's degree in 1992 from the University of Mosul and eventually fled the region along with his family and moved to Holland. There, he began to receive professional media training, creating the base and the foundation of Babylon Media in 1999. The company quickly grew into a multi-media service provider for big and small companies. After relocating his family and his business to Erbil in 2005, the company grew with four TV channels and two radio stations housed in its state-of-the-art headquarters. The company is always involved in major events throughout the year in the region, from concerts to major conferences. Today, Babylon Media is the leading multi-media service provider in the Kurdistan Region.

Nashwan Zaito was born in Zakho, Iraq, during the 1970s and grew up alongside his brother Salwan amidst Iraq's challenging times. A deep interest in media and new electronic technology was a constant for the Zaito brothers, who gained early entrepreneurial experience by opening various small businesses, including music and video shops. After the family moved to the Netherlands, Nashwan and his brother received professional media training. Applying their skills, they established the Babylon Media Group in 1998 to provide media coverage services across Europe. In 2005, following the US invasion of Iraq, the brothers decided to bring their business and their European media expertise back to their home country. The company relocated to Ankawa in Erbil, where it expanded rapidly and diversified its services. Under Nashwan's management, the group grew to include multiple television and radio stations, including Babylon FM, and built a state-of-the-art headquarters. Today, Nashwan Zaito is an integral part of Babylon Media, which has become a leading multi-media service provider in the Kurdistan Region and remains involved in major events throughout the year.
